speech recognition, assignment 4

Lady 1 ( ER nurse): She speaks very softly, a creole accent I think. She talks with out wavering her thoughts , very stubborn grandma or mom probably. With patient she seems nice and sweet, with very late doctor she talks strongly and very annoyed at his behavior, you can hear it in her words and voice tone.

Lady 2( ER Nurse): She talks mousy, very tired long drawn out words. Yawns once or twice, and just agrees with what ever the patient says. She agrees by using the phrase, "wow uh huh" every time.

Man 1( registration guy): Very happy and perky for 4 am, he uses his laughter to announce himself in the room, jokes with ladies in a hush hush voice but speaks loud and clear for everyone else. He has a spanish miami accent ( like the ladies from Bad Boys 2).

Lady 3( Mom's friend): So sweet, she heightens her last word by a little, so it emphasizes her feelings. Comes across very huggable when she speaks.

Little boy 1 ( son): Every word is not pronounced perfectly, but he speaks with very great enthusiasm. He gets his voice excited sounding by literally jumping and physically moving himself when he talks. Lots of " um" and when he repeats something for you he lengthens the word "daaaaadddddddddddyyyyyyy".

visual assignment

From Vanya's post-

I see a building newly built, but aged to perfection. The exterior walls have been painted to be old and stained. There are Cracks and vines throughout the entire façade. The colors on the frames of the doors and windows are warm, making it appear to be a friendly place. The doors are large but not demeaning they are more of a welcome. The wood is also aged, painted to look teaked and warn. When the doors are opened you are hit with an instant rush of sounds. People are chatting and dishes are clinking. As you sit at you table you receive a wine glass brought by the waitress; she pours you ice water. She is wearing a white shirt, black pants and a nice half apron. Her smile is so warm and inviting, it almost makes up for the baby who won’t stop crying in the both next to you. A lady with a very large yellow hat is bury shushing the kids at the table with her.

All the ladies are wearing wonderful flowy dresses in spring colors and the men in their khakis. The children are wearing crisp clothes that will soon be stained with spaghetti sauce and cheese. All seems happy and lovely on a wonderful weekend afternoon. Families are talking and stories are being told, what a lovely way to spend an lazy afternoon.

Public Place

Wooden doors being creaked open. men and women voices are heard, all types of shoes are rustling on carpet. There is fabric swooshing around. A person with a deep voice coughs, a woman clears her throat. Light praise and worship music can be heard in the background.  Musical instruments are being tuned, trumpet, guitar, clarinet, piano and organ. Air is being pushed through the room. Mic being picked up, Music starting- drums , click click click click, buh duh buh duh duh duh duh duu... piano, brass, guitars, and tambourine join in. Now comes a lot of peoples voices trying to sing on key.

Place # 3

The humming of a very loud Ac system drowns out a lot of noise. Doors are being opened and closed, then there is metal clicking into place. Women chatting, so many of them that is sounds like hens clucking away. Footsteps, lots of them, high heels, flip flops, clogs, wood, and jingly kinds. Guy is singing in the background, can't make out what he is saying because of the hens. Chairs being pushed against carpet, metal bars rubbing together, a woman coughs. Jewelry clinking together, sniffles, sighing, woman starts laughing. Sound system  is now humming. A person clicks on a mic, footsteps, papers rustling, and tapping on hard surface. Woman clearing her throat, " Are You Ready", Lots of women clapping and shouting.

Private Place

I hear footsteps, a man grunting and a little boy's voice making sounds like he's shooting at things in a battle. The man has started talking to what seems to be himself, I can diffinetly hear frustration in his voice. There are keyboard typing noises, a cell phone beeping- I think its battery is dying-  an oven is clicking to preheat it self. There is a table cracking under pressure. Singing- " at the cross you beckon me, draw me gently to my knees, and I am, lost for words so lost in love I am sweetly broken holy surrender...". Man talking on phone sounds buisnessy- words include- router, internet, malfunctioning- The clicking of a mouse and scrolling it along a hard surface. Ohh , the oven is clicking some more, at least 5 ceiling fans humming , now. Ice clinking in a glass. Little boy is making race car sounds now, vroom vroom errrrr, then plastic hitting plastic. Man is saying something again " seriously, what in the world".  Footsteps walking away.
